140 minutes of pure ambient techno bliss like this contained on Jesse Somfay's 2CD A Catch In The Voice out on Archipel, a release gaining very high acclaim. Absolutely love it.
Isn't this lovely, a trio of tracks to grace your ears as if with softest silk. Smith & Mudd's sold out Wem 7" is full of balearic, downtempo slo-mo grooves that'll teleport you to the beach (or the Shropshire market town that the track shares it's name with).

I apologize for the pretentious reference, but the Somfay really reminds me of Steve Reich's 'Music for 18 Musicians'. Even though it's a classical piece it's surprising how similar the tracks sound especially the way the various tracks fade in and out.

Thanks for your commment, I can't say i've heard Music For 18 Musicians, but I listened to A Catch In The Voice in it's entirety last night and it blew me away, the way it all works together. I'll be sure to check out the Steve Reich pieces!

It's a beautiful piece, especially because it's not 'too' classical. The composition and transitions are very close to some of the more minimal stuff, so you begin to realise where artists like The Field get at least some of their inspiration from.

Oh, Steve Reich is amazing. I really see a connection from him and the other minimalist composers to contemporary techno.
