Just been making a mix cd of remixes for my friend and upon completion of it decided that this is still one of the best remixes ever. Nuts.

The Knife - We Share Our Mothers Health (Trentemoller Remix)

Now for some new techno releases.

Just when you thought bass and distortion couldn't get any better, it does. Boys Noize lean more towards the naughty noises of D.I.M. or PUZIQUe than more poppy Kid Alex here with this acidic bass monster off their Oi Oi Oi album. This makes for the almost undanceable dance tune of the year, giving even last years winners Motor a run for their money. Mmmm.

Boys Noize - The Battery

There's also an excellent new release out on Border Community, that release is from Canadian kid Jake Fairley aka Fairmont. An eerie wonder that captivates you with its off kilter floating tune and precise minimal beat. It really is a great track, just the kind of goodness that's come to be expected from Border Community. There's also some top notch remixes of this track been done, including one by Christ.. Available HERE.

Fairmont - Flight Of The Albatross

And finally, the mighty Turbo have put out an excellent EP by Belgian duo Compuphonic & Kolombo that smacks of Booka Shade et al in the very very best way possible, excellent stuff! Available HERE.

Compuphonic & Kolombo - Passing Light

News just in: Watch out London, i'm about on the weekend.

It's Monday and I have some Canadian electronic music for you in the shape of Slap [Unmodified] who creates some excellent retro-futuristic synth soaked tunes that are not too dissimilar from that produced by his friend and Black Turtleneck partner in crime Jason Amm (Solvent) It's like music that depicts now, that was portended thirty years ago.

Slap [Unmodified] - End Titles (alt link)

Slap [Unmodified] - Pirate Stripper (alt link)

Sticking with the cold futuristic sounds there is this Roman Fluegel remix of Rework's Jogging Beat. It is brilliant, it ambles along in Hyperborean fashion without stepping needing to step up a gear to engage the listener. Definitely up there with more his more bouncy take on Riton's Hammer Of Thor.

Rework - Jogging Beat (Roman Fluegel's Tender Feet Remix) (alt link)

In the words of Dazed And Confused Hiem combine to be one big sweaty electronic duo, like a communist transformer with synths. Except that this transformer has the thickest Sheffield accent ever.

Hiem - Chelsea
(alt link)

Lower fi still there is the sound of Extractor Fan, it's like a Casiotone keyboard played through a rubbish speaker. On ADAADAT, nuff sed.

Extractor Fan - Big Up High Tech
(alt link)

Fellow ADAADAT act Germlin have also done this remix for left-coast skronksters Deerhoof and their track Rrrrrrright. There's a load more Deerhoof freebies HERE.

Deerhoof - Rrrrrrright (Germlin Remix)

Through no fault of his own and to do with my personal taste only I've never been the biggest fan of Dizzee Rascal, but Swedish synth-pop hero Komatrohn has yet to produce a bad track in my eyes, and although Komatrohn has altered his sound a bit here he has still made me find listening to Dizzee a little bit more fun than usual in a nostalgic Krypton Factor factor way.

Dizzee Rascal - Sirens (Komatrohn Remix)
(alt link)

Nonpareil indie electronica outfit Errors are soon to be hitting you in the face with live dates up and down the country, there's plenty of them so chances are there'll be one in a hamlet near you. They are supporting Underworld.....yes the Underworld of Born Slippy fame. Check their MySpaces for dates.

Errors - Hans Herman
(alt link)

There's also a new Hemstad track on their MySpace, quite different to their other stuff, possibly due to a reduced line up. Still rad fun though.

Hemstad - Rave Nation
(alt link)

And finally if you like free cool stuff, which you obviously do or you wouldn't be here, then get yourself over to Summer Lovers Unlimited Recs where they're offering an ace self-titled 7" for free download by the cacophonous noise-niks that are Channels 3x4.

Channels 3x4 - The Queen

For me, 14 shades of cool above the rest. Wonderful remixes of wonderful originals that are above all different from the preponderance.

C.L.A.W.S. - C.L.A.W.S. Theme (Curses! Remix)
(alt link)

Xiu Xiu - Hello From Eau Claire (Gold Chains Remix) (alt link)

Architecture In Helsinki - Frenchy I'm Faking (DAT Politics Remix) (alt link)

Video time. Ants are fascinating creatures, I always wanted an ant farm. The end.

ZZT - Lower State Of Consciousness

A Daft Punk-y Ratatat you say? Heck no, since picking up on HeartsRevolution / HeartsChallenger in a few good places, i've become enamored with them. Their story is really lovely and proves them a lot more than just another electro band. It makes a much better read in flipbook mode, so go HERE and smile :) Then go HERE.

Hearts Revolution - Domino Effect
(alt link)

It gets better. They've also made this outstanding video.

I've not listened to much Yuksek for a while, but I stumbled across this wonderful edit he did for Rolf Honey on this excellent compilation (you won't often find Jacqueline Taieb and Boys Noize on the same compilation - ACE!). It builds and builds into a filthy swathe of bass ridden electro goodness. I forgot just how good he is.

Rolf Honey - Blast Up (Yuksek Edit)
(alt link)

*puts Break Ya on repeat followed by some Klanguage*

Keeping it brief due to being a bit tired and dosed up on Kapake today.

It's a song I keep coming back to when I want to relax, but not too much. Pantha du Prince's Saturn Strobe combines minimal-techno with orchestral melodies to truly wonderful effect, and no matter how many times I hear it, it always does the trick for me. I've heard a number of people mentioning that Pantha du Prince's album This Bliss will be in their end of year Top 7's, not a bad shout really.

Pantha du Prince - Saturn Strobe (alt link)

But if it's a rocking shout along dance party track your after then check this out. Berlin's Monosurround dish out this catchy electro track on Citizen's Resume Compilation.

Monosurround - Cocked, Locked, Ready To Rock (alt link)

It's one you've probably heard played out countless times in countless places over the last year or so, but its reverberating tinny acid tune never ever gets boring. That's probably why Tomas Andersson's Washing Up that was released on BPC back in 2005 has now been pressed out again by Skint, this time with more excellent remixes. Available HERE.

Tomas Andersson - Washing Up (Tiga Remix) (alt link)

Bodi Bill are worth checking out if you're a fan of The Notwist or the BPitch Control sound. Their album No More Wars is pretty much a mix of those two plus elements of folk and classical. An interesting mix you might say, and you'd be right, but it's a decent listen nonetheless.

Bodi Bill - Naegel (alt link)

You know I like drawings. This is incredible.

I apologise for the slow download speeds, alternative links where provided will be quicker, otherwise just cultivate some patience innit =)

Nearly a year ago I posted this song by David E. Sugar, I stumbled over the song again while perusing my collection of 8-bit tunes and decided it is well worthy of a re-post. I'm sure it'll be met with greater approval now than back then, after all chip is now hip.

David E. Sugar - Totally On (alt link)

After a decent new-ish experimental band to torment your ears with? Might I suggest DD/MM/YYYY. They do disjointed, they do frantic. They get creative, messing around with guitars, drums and the odd video game noise, concocting a melee of experimental math-rock mayhem. Good honest noisy fun. You can pick up their album Are They Masks? from HERE.

DD/MM/YYYY - Simple Life (alt link)

DD/MM/YYYY - White Lines (alt link)

Keytars & Violins is one year old this month. Roughly 150 posts and 400 tracks. Pointless fact.

Some more dancefloor friendly stuff for you. There's plenty of heavy bass around at the moment, with bass heroes D.I.M. and Proxy and PUZIQUe all putting out some stupidly heavy stuff. Then on Boys Noize Recs there's the Mancunian Shadow Dancer who have got a super good EP out which is available HERE, they follow in the vein of everyone worth loving in electro-house right now, good stuff. Another track i've jived to is one by The Bulgarian, reminds me of MSTRKRFT's Neon Knights.

Shadow Dancer - End Hit (alt link)

The Bulgarian - Uptown Jack (alt link)

James Holden remixing Nathan Fake..... yes please. This remix from a couple years back is quite simply a minimal house masterpiece, you can do anything to it, sleep, dance, work, drive, anything!

Nathan Fake - The Sky Was Pink (James Holden Remix) (alt link)

Missing Holden at Pukkelpop was a serious error on my part. Nathan Fake will be in London at The Luminaire on 18th October with the fantastic Ochre in support, a must see event for those who can make it. Darn living in a crap locale, I should move to London or summat and seriously would if I didn't have the headache of home and job hunting. Darn my lack of spontaneity. Anyway, back to Nathan Fake, here is the Icelandic remix of The Sky Was Pink set to some absolutely wonderful archive space test footage.

Drawn out electronic wonderment for this dull Monday morning, from Hot Chip & The Chap's spliced styles to Quiet Village's psychedelic drone to Hundarna Fran Soder's icey minimalism to Mother Mallard's Portable Masterpiece Co. and their naive synth melodies, all make for an absorbing Monday morning precursor to Neighbours.
